What’s So special about iPhone 7? jack-off bro

iPhone 7 Jack-off

It’s gone! It really has gone. Apple has removed the standard headphone jack – but it’s not all bad news. As predicted, Apple just killed off the headphone jack in the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The familiar and universal 3.5mm headphone jack — also known as the 1/8-inch headphone jack and TS jack — is nowhere to be found on its new phones.

At the September 7th keynote, Apple really emphasized the importance of wireless headphones, saying that they want to make the wireless experience absolutely optimal for users.

After the launch of the iPhone 7, then, Apple will be releasing a pair of headphones called the “AirPods.” These look quite similar to the existing Apple headphones, but with absolutely no wires and with a built in Apple W1 chip.

The headphones detect when they are in your ear, so they only play when you’re ready to listen. You can also tap them to access Siri, and they will seamlessly switch between your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.

The battery will last for five hours. However, they also come with a charging case that gives you three hours of juice after charging for 15 minutes.

Weirdly, though, despite Apple spending so much time discussing the AirPods as part of the iPhone 7 experience, they won’t actually come with the iPhone 7. Instead, they will be sold on their own for $159 starting in October.

You get a set of Lightning EarPods in the box, meaning you’ll be able to plug in right away, while an adaptor is also included, so you can continue to use your current headphones if you wish – although it’s certainly not the most elegant implementation.

If you’re feeling flush you can splash the cash ($159, £159, AU$229 to be exact) and get yourself a set of AirPods – Apple’s first wireless Bluetooth earbuds. They offer five hours of listening on a single charge, dual microphones enabling you to take calls and interact with Siri, and touch response, so you can answer calls and launch Siri.

The AirPods also come with their own case, which houses its own battery providing up to 24 hours of playback, as it will charge the buds when they’re sitting in it.

Pairing the AirPods with the iPhone 7 is easy: all you have to do is move the case near the phone and tap the on-screen prompt.
